Rocket Axe Throwing App
A simple scheduling app for an on-site axe throwing company.
COMPANY: DOVETAIL | ROLE: SENIOR ART DIRECTOR, UI/UX

I was approached by a freelance developer who was in search of a designer with UI and UX experience to assist in developing a scheduling app. Rocket Axe Throwing is a company that specializes in on-site axe throwing events at local bars in the Peoria, Illinois area. The client wanted to develop an app that would be helpful to his employees as well as the bars wanting to schedule his service. It would allow for both parties to schedule events seamlessly and accept payment via PayPal.
Once the app launches, it will move into phase two which will most likely feature more rich and interactive content, and offer more services for B2C.
Welcome screen
The welcome screen was intended to be very simple with one main call-to-action—to book your event. To create a consistent experience across platforms, we agreed that a hamburger style menu was best choice for the navigation.
Getting started
Once the user starts booking, a menu will prompt them to select a location that is currently hosting an event.
Calendar
The interactive calendar allows the user to filter results by location, as well as see availability of sessions—indicated by small blue dots on the calendar. Once the user decides a time slot to book, they will be prompted to fill out necessary information to secure their booking.
Complete your booking
Once a date and time have been selected, the user will be prompted to fill out key information to finalize their booking. Basic information (name, email, how many spots) will be collected to feed necessary information for the billing section of the app. Billing will have PayPal integration to finalize the sale through the app itself. From there, an email will alert the user and confirm their order.
Closing
The Rocket Axe Throwing app is currently in the design and prototyping phase of development. As we work through client feedback and iterations it will go into development and be launched through proper Apple and Android channels. Overall, we wanted to keep the functionality at the forefront and keep the user experience as simple as possible to make booking and paying a quick and easy process.
